More Ideas

Make sure you visit the mall ahead of time to make arrangements as to where to meet your guests, what kind of things you could get for refreshments, if there's any movies you might want to see, or if there's a restraunt in or near the mall where you could have lunch and serve the cake.

Invitation
Using your computer and printer make cards that resemble credit cards, if you do not have a printer you can also do this by using stickers and include the party information on the card.

Place the credit card invitations inside a mini-gift bag with tissue paper and place in a larger envelope for mailing. You can also use scrap book stickers to decorate the gift bag saying "It's a 12th Birthday Party!" Or make up your own store name on the bag in the Birthday Child's name.

You can try other things besides the credit card such as a mini T-shirt cut out of card stock with the information.

Decorations
Since this party is inside of the mall you do not need decorations, you may however want to decorate your car for the party if you will be driving your guests to the party or carry a balloon in the mall if you are having your guests meet you at the mall so it will be easy for everyone to find you.

Food
If you will be having lunch in a restraunts check with the staff ahead of time for reservations and if they allow you to bring in your own cake. You can also ask if they can have a set menu to avoid the guests from picking expensive items off of the menu or taking too long to decide.

Most malls have food courts so if you have a smaller group you may want to just eat in the food court and have ice cream instead of a cake. You can save the cake for later at home.

Games
Mall Scavenger Hunt
For this game you will need to visit the mall earlier in the day to make a list of things for the guests to find. Then take your list to a copy place to have copies made for the group. You can get as creative as you wish with this one. If the scavenger hunt includes a purchase make sure you bring along some cash to give the group.

Divide the group into teams and give them their list. The first group to return with all the answers wins.

Some sample questions and challenges you can come up with:

How much is a small soft drink at Dairy Queen?
Get a napkin from the pretzel stand.
What is color is the mannequins hair in Sally's Fashions?
How much is the senior admission price at the movies?
What's the name of the bookstore on the 2nd level?
Buy a hair tie with a flower on it.
Get a straw in a wrapper.

Activities
A Movie. If you are going to be seeing one make sure the movie is approved by the guests parents before you decide.

Party Favors
The favors can be included in a small shopping bag with the guests name on them, give to the guests as they leave the party (mall). Coin purses, costume jewelry, stickers, candy, and pens make great favors for the mall theme. Check under stationary and jewelry at Oriental Trading Company, Inc. for some appropriate items.
