You don't really have to leave your home to plan a camping party. If you have a backyard you can have a pretend camping experience there, have an evening time only camp at a near by park, pack up before park curfew. Not all parents or kids will be thrilled about having an over-nighter so have spending the night an option. The kids will have just as much fun ending the party just before bed time. Kids can hang out in the tent until then. If you would really like to make into a camping trip invite a couple of other parents to go.
Invitation
Use a piece of white card stock cut into a triangle place another piece of card stock or construction in green over the white card stock cut the same size and cut a slit in it about 3/4 down the middle starting from the bottom. Fold Back on each side to make a tent, write your information about the party inside the tent on the white card stock. You can also use the flaps to write information and the outside of the tent. Scrapbook supply stores have stickers that you can use with camping themes to decorate the outside
Decorations
Have one or two tents set up in the party area along with a picnic table or blankets for eating. Get out any Camping gear you may have like lanterns, flash lights, folding chairs, etc. If you don't have a lot of gear ask your friends or neighbors if they have some more 'props' for you to borrow.
A lantern on the table can be used as a center piece. Have a few ballons out to give a 'birthday' atmosphere.
Food
If you have a fire pit you can roast weenies for Hot Dogs, If not you can either BBQ some or cook them indoors and bring them out serve them with baked beans and chips. For Snacks you can serve trail mix, s'mores, or granola bars
Easy Smores Snack: Spread marsmallow cream and fudge frosting on graham crackers for some easy and tasty smores with no campfire.

Games
What Animal am I?
Make one tag for each child with a names of a different animals , if the children aren't readers yet you can use a sticker with a picture. Place one tag on each child without them knowing what animal it is. Put all of the 'animals' (children) into the corral, you can use any roped off area. The children must try to figure out what animal they are by asking "yes" and "no" questions to the other children. You can have the children sit in a circle and have the children take turns by having each child stand in the middle when it's their turn.
Activities
Nature Walk: Go out for a nature walk. Have each child pack a sack lunch in their backpack. Walk to the park or some place where you can have a picnic. You could also incorporate a scavenger hunt along the way!
