Invitation
Make your invitation look like a magnifying glass.
On a piece of clear acetate cut enough circles as invitations you will need and large enough to write the party information inside. Cut another circle using cardstock with a hole in the center to glue the acetate on. Attach a piece of black cardstock to make a handle. Write your party information using a thin permanent black marker. Stick bug stickers on the blank areas of the magnifying glass, or glue a small plastic bug to your invite.

Decorations
Use all kinds of plastic bugs to decorate the party area. If you are having spiders as part of your spider you can use the fake spider webs that you can find during Halloween time. You can use netting to hang from the ceiling and stick large rubber or plastic bugs to it.

If you are doing more of a friendly bug party, make large cut-outs of ladybugs and butterflies to hang around the party area.

Food
Visit the University of Kentucky Department of Entomology for bug themed food and more.

Lady Bug deorated cupcakes or dirt cupcakes - frost the cakes a light green and sprinkle crushed up chocolate sandwich cookies on top with a gummy worm cut in half as if it's coming out of the cupcake.

Games

Pin The Bug on the Flower
Using construction paper make a large flower with a leaf on the side. Using ladybugs cut out of construction paper, you would have each one numbered for each guest (or their names) while blind-folded have them try to get the lady bug onto the leaf. The closest one wins.

You can also do this with cut out bumble bees and try to get them onto the center of the flower

Bug Hunt
Hide lots of plastic bugs, available at Oriental Trading Company, out in the yard or in one of the rooms of the house and have the kids search for them the one who finds the most bugs wins.

Activities
Make Bug head bands out of construction paper and use pipe cleaners as antennae

Foam bug shapes can be purchased at Oriental Trading Company, Inc. and have the children make picture frames or other crafts using the shapes
