Invitation
Using construction paper make a little barn. Have the barn doors open and glue on top of a white sheet of paper with the information of the party written down inside the doors. Use farm animal stickers to decorate the barn and envelope.
Decorations
Use red and white checkered table cloths to decorate your tables. If you are able to get some haystacks you can use them to decorate around your party area.
Use a sawhorse to make a horse by making a horse head and attach it to the body. Use yarn for the mane. A saddle can be made with a piece of vinyl.
Food
Fried Chicken, corn on the cob, hamburgers, baked Beans, potato salad, watermelon if it's in season.
Games
What Animal am I?
Make one tag for each child with a names of a different animals , if the children aren't readers yet you can use a sticker with a picture. Place one tag on each child without them knowing what animal it is. Put all of the 'animals' (children) into the corral, you can use any roped off area. The children must try to figure out what animal they are by asking "yes" and "no" questions to the other children. You can have the children sit in a circle and have the children take turns by having each child stand in the middle when it's their turn.
Animal Charades
Place a the names (or pictures) of farm animals in a bowl, have the birthday girl or boy pick a name out of the jar and act out what that animal does, no sounds. The children can ask 'yes' and 'no' questions out loud. Whoever guesses first gets to pick the next animal. If no one guesses in the first minute they can start making the animal sounds. Magic Egg Hunt
Use Plastic eggs filled candy, stickers, pencil toppers, rings, or anything that you can fit into the eggs. Hide the eggs outside, or if you are indoors you can hide them in one room of the house to avoid the children roaming through out the house.
Tell the kids that a magic chicken has escaped from the Hen house and has laid magic eggs for the children to find. Let them loose to go on the egg hunt.
Duck Duck Goose
All the children sit in a circle. The birthday child goes around the outside of the circle touching the children's heads shouting out "duck" as he touches each head, he will pat one child on the head and say "goose", that child must get up and run in a circle to try to tag the other child before he sits in his empty spot. If the child is tagged he is the goose again if he successfully sits down before he gets tagged the other child is the new goose.
Activities
Old Mac Donald had a Farm
Divide the children into groups of farm animals. If you have a small group you can have one child per animal. Sing 'Old MacDonald Had a Farm' on the animal sounds part have the children who are that animal make the sound.. Example: "Old Mac Donald had a Farm E-I-E-I-O" all the cows will sing the "moo moo moo, here" Part.
Hay Ride
Buy some loose hay at an animal fee store and fill a wagon, give the kids hayrides.
Animal Masks
Make Animal masks out of paper plates and construction paper. Use a piece of Yarn to make a band to go around the child's head.
Party Favors
Use red and white checkered pieces of fabric large enough to lay the party favors out and to tie into a bundle. Use a piece of twine to tie, make a name tags with the children's name to tie with the bundle. Pass these out at the end of the party when the guests go home. Theme related party favors could be animal stickers, candy, animal key chains, erasers, and whistles. Farm animal favors are available from Oriental Trading Company, Inc.
