Thanks for the tips. I haven't rented any lately, but have mostly been getting mine from the library and usually they are for the kids.

It seems like there's always something to watch on TV lately, even if it's not good Rolling Eyes

Have any of you seen Life is Beautiful? I saw it a few years ago and if you haven't that's really good.

Plot Synopsis: In 1930s Italy, a carefree Jewish book keeper named Guido starts a fairy tale life by courting and marrying a lovely woman from a nearby city. Guido and his wife have a son and live happily together until the occupation of Italy by German forces. In an attempt to hold his family together and help his son survive the horrors of a Jewish Concentration Camp, Guido imagines that the Holocaust is a game and that the grand prize for winning is a tank.

Nope havn't seen it sorry.

This weekend we watched Narnia: The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe it was great!

We also watched King Kong, it was good for adults but I wouldnt recommend it for children old enough to know whats going on. My 10 yr old liked all but one part of it and he just covered his eyes so he couldn't see.

I tend to do most of my movie rentals in the summer when there are repeats on.

During the tv season, I tape my shows and then watch them when i am folding laundry and cleaning up the play room after everyone has gone to bed.

I can never think of movies off the top of my head. I will have to go to the video store with a pen and paper in hand to wirte down all my faocrites and all the ones I want to see.

As for Life Is Beautiful - it really is a MUST see!! I have seen it a few times.

When I was pregnant with Jackson, I was really weepy. (I am not one for crying at movies otherwise) Anyway, I had already seen Life is Beautiful and had not cried the first time, but this time I was watching by myself and as it came to an end I was BAWLING my eyes out. My husband came home to find me crying my eyes out on our couch. It was actually quite funny - cause that is so not me! Shocked

I LOVE MOVIES though - it is one of my all time favourite activities. Very Happy There are sooo many that I love...

Some of my recent favourites are:
Million Dollar Baby
Crash - I think this film is brilliant and such an insightful look at the prejudices in our society - I highly recommend it
Hotel Rwanda - BRUTAL but I believe so important to watch. Don't let your kids see it and only watch it if you are prepared to be emotionally and spiritually stunned

I don't think I started crying until I had kids! I also remember crying my eyes out on that movie (Life is Beautiful)

Million Dollar Baby was a good one too. I haven't seen Hotel Rowanda, but my SIL also recommended that to us so maybe I should check it out.

Haven't seen Crash either.

For some reason I like watching movies that make me cry my eyes out now Crying

I need a really good comedy recommendation too. I can't think of any right now.

Meet the Fockers is a riot. If you haven't seen the first one, rent Meet the Parents first.

50 First Dates was cute and funny and not stupid like I thought it would be.

Wedding Crashers is one my husband really liked - it is funny, but crude. so be careful...it might not be your style. (I laughed, but it was pretty crude.)

I did see Wedding Crashers, I was a little dissappointed because I expected it to be a little funnier. There were some really funny parts, but after they got to the house it sort of dragged too long.

I'll have to check out Meet the Fockers. I've heard it is funny, but haven't seen it.

50 First Dates is cute too.

All the Harry Potter movies are a big hit in our house. We finally just bought them. But, one of my all time faves is Steel Magnolias. Love that movie so much. Haven't seen anything new in awhile, because when we do sit down to watch something we let the kids pick. I really want to see Chicken Little.

I LOVE Steel Magnolias - I have seen it at least four times.

My son is too young for Harry Potter. He loved Chicken Little though.

We just watched 40 yrold virgin this weekend - I was really disappointed. I love Steve Carrol in The Office, and had great hopes for this movie. It had funny moments, but it was too rude for my taste.

We also saw Jarhead - it was alright, but not the best film I have seen.

oh don't you hate that when you have a movie waiting? get it again though. it is a must see. but remember - you will be horrified and you will most likely cry.

about the 40yrold virgin - i feel so bad giving a bad "review". lots of other people loved it I am sure. I just found it a bit offensive. but in the end it has a good ending and all. but the language is really crass - so if you are bothered by that, then you might want to not wach it. i can handle bad language in a movie when itis "necessary" and part of the story. (I actually sometimes curse myself when not around my son - shhh don't tell anyone.) And I was a youth worker, cursing was part of the teens vocab. Some couldn't say a sentance without the f word - seriously! Rolling Eyes So I am quite desensitized. But this was bad cursing. and unnecessary.

So withthat in mind, see what you think...
