Hi - Just went to see Hairspray at the movies today - It was FANTASTIC! Great movie, loved the cast. One exception to the cast - Does anyone know how and why John Travolta got the roll of Tracy's mom? I sooo totally didn't think it was a realistic woman and would have been much, much better had it been played by a plus size actress. I saw one quickie interview with him where he said that the fat costume he wore was very realistic and moved exactly as a plus size woman should - I sooooo did not see any realistice jiggling going on. I thought the costume was very stiff.
I don't know the name of the actress who played Tracey but she was awesome. Michele Pfieffer and Queen Latifa were both great too. I could definitely what this again.

Well in the original hairspray her mom was played by a man dressed as a woman anyways, so Im sure thats why they went the way they did with John Travolta.
Tracy is played by Nikki Blonsky. _________________ Rosie

That's interesting I didn't know that in the play the mother's role was played by a man. I wonder why.
If you get a chance to get out when your parents visit go see it on the big screen, you don't want to have to wait for it to come to video.
