Just finished watching lost seasons. Couldn't ignore the positive hype surrounding the show. Have to say I'm disappointed so far. I think mainly because of the ridiculous amount of praise heaped upon it by people who I think haven't watched too many quality shows on t.v. This was apparently voted #2 best t.v show in Empire online forum!! Come on! This doesn't even come close to at least 7 or 8 other shows of the present decade.

Sure there are positives - a few characters like John locke, Jack and Said are nicely realized, have interesting stories and are played well by the relevant actors. Also as the scale of the series is so ambitious (which other show has so many main characters and so many interweaving plot strands?)you have to congratulate the creators for not making a mess of it. The show keeps one's interest throughout the 25 episodes which is no easy feat.

Now for the negatives. Lets start with the score. As lost serieswent on I increasingly became annoyed by the intrusive and overdone score which towards the last few episodes especially became so repetitive that I really started to hate it. It is so derivative and uninspired, I just hope Season 2 has new and better music. More importantly the script is so full of clichés I constantly was able to guess what the characters would be saying next! As for the 'twists and turns' in the plot that some people are raving about, they are sometimes really absurd or just there to further the plot and a lot of them can be seen a mile off. Maybe I'm too clever for my own good? I don't think so - recent shows like 'The Shield' and 'The Wire' are unpredictable and have organic and believable plots at the same time. Lastly some of the characters are just uninteresting or annoying and sometimes both. Shannon would be the best example of this. J.J abrams if you're reading this - please kill her off in season 2!

It is really a great show. I have watched these shows daily basis. All the episodes are mind blowing in this show. It is a American television series.
